Getting Started with Ancestry DNA
Join us on Saturday, February 4th for Getting Started with Ancestry DNA. This special presentation by the Palm Springs Genealogical Society will feature guest speaker Michelle Trostler. This FREE program will be from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. in The Learning Center (TLC).
Michelle Trostler is an avid genetic genealogist and the founder of IdentifyFamily.com. She is a member of CeCe Moore’s exclusive DNA Detectives team. Michelle has also attended the Council for the Advancement of Forensic Genealogy’s Advanced DNA Practicum (2015) and Advanced Genetic Genealogy (2016) as well as many genetic genealogy conferences where she has soaked up knowledge and the tools of the trade. Her work is featured in an upcoming book entitled The Foundling (April 2017) which tells the story of how Michelle and three other DNA Detectives found the biological family of Paul Fronczak. This story has been featured on 20/20 with Barbara Walters and was a case that the FBI closed erroneously 50 years earlier.
Michelle holds a BA in Sociology from UCSD and an MA in Sociology from USC. She spent a decade working in high tech as a database marketer where she became adept at filtering through mounds of data. This database perspective powers the investigative strategies Michelle uses today when solving family mysteries via genetic genealogy.
